Last weekend on a rare sunny Saturday (who’d have thought sun in August!) my boyfriend and I packed our bags and headed to Suffolk for a night at The Salthouse Harbour Hotel in Ipswich as a little weekend Birthday surprise. With amazing interiors and a pretty tasty menu at the hotel restaurant we were in for a treat.

Arriving early afternoon we ditched our bags and set off to find a pub to soak up the Suffolk sunshine and indulge in a cider or two. Once we’d satisfied our thirst we headed into town to shop and make a pit stop at Zizzi’s for a late lunch. I picked their new Chicken and Prosciutto Salad, which was delicious and eaten too quickly for me to take a photo of (oops). ¬†After a little shopping spree in Lush to check our some of their new ranges (hello Flamingo Bubble Bar) we headed back to The Salthouse Harbour Hotel to get ready for dinner.

The hotel throughout is filled with unique art pieces and the Eaterie at Salthouse is no different. With sumptuous chairs and bold colours throughout the Salthouse Harbour Hotel certaintly know how to do hotel style in Ipswich. Some of the rooms even feature brick walls and baths overlooking the harbour – fancy right!

For dinner we picked steak and hand cut chips, followed by a chocolate fondant dessert which were both incredible. The Eaterie sits on the waterside and has a small outside space, perfect for indulging in the afternoon tea the hotel also offer. After a big old sleep in one of the most comfy hotel beds we headed to breakfast for eggs florentine for me and fry up for him before setting off for home and attempting to make my first ever roast dinner.
